Freeport LNG Donates $500,000 to Brazosport Health Foundation’s Capital Campaign

2/4/2015

Brazosport Regional Health System is pleased to announce that Freeport LNG Development, L.P., has pledged a $500,000 donation to the Brazosport Health Foundation’s Cornerstone of Caring Capital Campaign.  Freeport LNG’s significant gift boosts the $5 million goal of the campaign to $4,377,959.  In recognition of this major gift, the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital will be named in recognition of Freeport LNG.

Michael Smith, Chairman and CEO of Freeport LNG, states, “Every year, Brazosport Regional Health System’s compassionate and excellent medical experts care for thousands in our community.  Freeport LNG recognizes the importance of quality healthcare for our community, our employees, contractors and their families.  This contribution to the Cornerstone of Caring Capital Campaign solidifies our partnership with the hospital and we are honored to have the Intensive Care Unit bear our corporation’s name.”

The intensive care unit (ICU) is a special department of the hospital that provides sophisticated, medically complex care for high-acuity patients with the most severe and life-threatening illnesses and injuries that require continuous monitoring and support. Freeport LNG’s generous gift establishes the Freeport LNG Intensive Care Unit.  Part of the campus upgrade will be to remodel space on the hospital’s first floor and move the ICU from the third floor.  The projected timeline for completion of the new ICU is late 2016 or early 2017.

“In response to pressing healthcare challenges facing families and employers in our region, Freeport LNG is investing in the future of BRHS and the entire community with their gift,” said Al Guevara, CEO/President of Brazosport Regional.  “This transformative gift helps enhance the services and infrastructure of the hospital.”

As a nonprofit organization, the corporate partnerships and community support allows Brazosport Regional to invest in leading-edge technology and equipment to provide every patient with excellent and compassionate care. Making a donation contributes to the expansion of healthcare and allows our local hospital to meet the growing needs of the community.
